We believe that listening to children, and to each other, is the foundation of community and collaboration. We trust children to be interested in things worth knowing about, and we follow their lead as they look closely, wonder, create, and take action.
ย
We view our school as a living, evolving program. Our roots are in bilingualism, a love for French language and Francophone culture, and a belief that multilingualism is a tool not just for communication, but for understanding.
Our children learn in French, and they also develop their fluency in the many languages of the natural world, visual art, music, and movement. Each year, as the children and our surroundings evolve and change, we reinvent ourselves together and enlarge the horizons of our collective perception.
By engaging in an ongoing conversation regarding different ways of thinking, being, seeing and making meaning, we strive to embody the twin practices of community and democracy every day.
French Teacher (Assistant / Lead )
Why LLS
We are a small, thoughtful, and unique school, where educators are truly known, supported, and valued. Our classrooms are intimate, our community is close, and our work is guided by care, curiosity, and respect for children and adults alike.
French Immersion Preschool | Brooklyn, Clinton Hill
The Language and Laughter Studio (LLS) is a small, progressive French immersion preschool in Brooklyn, serving children ages 1โ5. We are currently welcoming applications from French-speaking educators interested in joining our community as Assistant Teachers and Lead Teachers
LLS is a deeply relational school. We see early childhood not simply as a stage of learning, but as one of the most transformative periods of a childโs life: when curiosity is wide open, emotions are deeply felt, and relationships shape everything. Our school is designed to feel like a second home: a place where children can be themselves, make mistakes, explore freely, and feel held by caring adults.
Our Approach
Our Mini-Maternelle program is held entirely in French, offering children a true immersive experience. French is the language of play, art, storytelling, daily routines, and social connection.ย
Our curriculum is play-based, inquiry-driven, and rooted in real experiences. Children spend significant time outdoors in all seasons.
We also believe deeply in reflective practice among educators. Our team regularly engages in dialogue about child development, emotional growth, boundaries, care, and what it means to support young children in todayโs world.
The Roleย
At LLS, we are seeking an early-childhood educator who meets children with presence, care, and curiosity.
We believe deeply in our relationship to all living things, and we want our children to be rooted in nature before they reach toward technology.
Our teachers create warm, intentional, and engaging environments where children grow through open-ended exploration of their world. Classrooms are fully immersed in the French language.
Teachers support each childโs social-emotional journey with kindness and respect. They collaborate with colleagues, prepare materials, and create an inspiring learning space for young children.
Clear, open communication with both the teaching team and families is essential.
If this feels like youโor someone you knowโweโd love to connect.
