The Daycare Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children in a daycare setting. This role involves assisting with curriculum implementation, supervising children, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting the social and emotional development of the children.
1**Responsibilities**.
- Support the lead teacher in implementing age appropriate curriculum and activities that promote child development and learning,
-Collaborate with the lead teacher and classroom resources. to plan and prepare lesson materials and resources.
-Provide individualized attention and support to children as directed by the lead teacher.
2.** Supervision and Care**
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well- being at all times.
- Assist with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and toileting, following established procedures and guidelines.
- Monitor children's behavior and interactions ,intervening as needed to promote positive social skills and conflict resolution.
3.** Classroom Management**
- Help maintain a clean organized, and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning and play.
-Assist with setting up and maintaining learning centers, materials, and equipment for daily activities.
-Encourage children to participate in activities and follow classroom rules and routines.
4.**Communication and Collaboration**
- Communicate regularly with the lead teacher, sharing observations, concerns, and updates on children's progress.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, and caregivers, demonstrating professionalism and empathy in all interactions.
5. ** Professional Development**
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
- Seek feedback from lead teacher and supervisors to improve performance and effectiveness in supporting children's development.
The qualifications needed for Assistant Teacher-
-High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool or similar setting.
-Basic understanding of child development principles, early childhood education practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Patience, flexibility and a passion for working with children.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-CPR and First Aid certification ( or a willingness to obtain)
